Tigernut milk is a naturally sweet, dairy-free staple in West African kitchens, and it makes a smooth, mellow base for a smoothie without a drop of dairy or any added acidity. Blended with ripe banana and a handful of oats, it turns into something thick enough to feel like a real breakfast rather than just a drink.

Because it's plant-based and lactose-free by nature, this smoothie works well for anyone avoiding dairy alongside a reflux- or IBS-friendly diet, and we kept the fruit to ripe banana only, which is gentle and low in the fermentable sugars that can unsettle a sensitive gut. Cinnamon adds warmth in place of anything citrusy or sharp.

Blend it up in five minutes for a grab-and-go breakfast, or pour it into a glass and sip it slowly alongside a light meal. It keeps in the fridge for a few hours if you need to make it ahead.
