This is a basic bowl of oats with two small additions that change what it offers nutritionally: ground flaxseed stirred in as it cooks, and fresh berries scattered on top once it's off the heat.

Oats and flaxseed are both fiber-rich, whole-grain staples that show up often in breakfasts built around liver-supportive eating, mostly because they're filling without being heavy. Cinnamon adds warmth, and honey or maple syrup is entirely optional if the berries provide enough sweetness on their own.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup water or milkdairy or plant-based
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrupoptional
  • 1/2 cup fresh berriesoptional, for topping

Instructions

  1. 1Bring water or milk to a gentle boil in a small pot.
  2. 2Add rolled oats and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally until soft.
  3. 3Stir in ground flaxseed and cinnamon.
  4. 4Transfer to bowls and top with honey or maple syrup and fresh berries if desired.
