Most fruit smoothies lean on orange juice or a splash of lime, which is exactly what makes this one different — pear, melon, and banana bring plenty of natural sweetness without a drop of citrus in sight.

That makes it a comfortable option if citrus fruits tend to trigger your acid reflux, since low-acid fruit combinations like this one are generally easier to tolerate than the usual citrus-heavy blends. Blend it with milk or almond milk for creaminess, and add honey only if the fruit alone isn't sweet enough for you.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe pearpeeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 cup melon (honeydew or cantaloupe)chopped
  • 1 ripe bananasliced
  • 1 cup low-fat milk or almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon honeyoptional, for sweetness

Instructions

  1. 1Prepare the pear, melon, and banana by peeling, chopping, and slicing as needed.
  2. 2Place all fruits into a blender along with milk.
  3. 3Blend until smooth and creamy.
  4. 4Taste and add honey if extra sweetness is desired, then blend briefly again.
  5. 5Pour into serving glasses and enjoy chilled.
